The centre of Lovina in every practical sense: most of the restaurants, dive shops and guesthouses sit within walking distance of each other and of the black sand beach.
Skip it if: you want the energy of the south coast: Lovina closes early by comparison.
East along the coast, where the fishing boats and the daily rhythm of the village are more visible than the tourist side of Lovina. Fewer places to eat, and a short ride from Kalibukbuk's options.

West of the centre, closer to where the early-morning dolphin-watching boats leave from. A calmer, more residential stretch than Kalibukbuk itself.

For a slower pace and the dolphin trips, yes. It does not have the beaches, nightlife or restaurant scene of the south, and most visitors treat it as a one-to-three-night stop rather than a main base.
Sightings are common but not guaranteed: it depends on the morning and the season. Boats leave early specifically because that is when the odds are best.
Usually two to two and a half hours by car from Seminyak or Canggu, over the mountains through Bedugul.
It is calmer than the open west coast further south, with black volcanic sand rather than white, and it is not the main draw: most visitors come for the boats and the diving rather than for sunbathing.
