A calm bay minutes from the airport, with seafood grilled on the sand every evening. The beachfront resorts here face sheltered water.
Skip it if: you want a manicured resort beach.
Black volcanic sand and a reef a few strokes from the beach. Beachfront here means a bungalow above the water and a mask by the door.
Skip it if: you want white sand and a pool bar.
The reef-protected east and south: Sanur, Nusa Dua and the bay at Jimbaran. The west coast, from Seminyak to Canggu, faces open ocean with waves and currents.

Mostly on the west coast, between Seminyak and Canggu, with a few in Uluwatu and Nusa Dua.
